Introducing the Characters and Species of Fallen Ribbon

Welcome back to the Dark Nursery Diaries!  It’s been a long and arduous week, but I’ve been looking forward to writing this post for you all!  One of my earlier ideas when brainstorming topics for each post was to provide a somewhat more personal and behind-the-scenes sort of introduction to the main characters and primary species of the book.  Therefore, in a series of eight posts, spread throughout the campaign, we are going to delve deeper into the lore of the Dark Nursery Diaries series that got Fallen Ribbon started.  We are going to look at each of our persona non grata characters and their respective species’.

Geordie Vollner, the girl born as a half vampire and half angel who had been hunted since before she was even born.  The peculiar human who doesn’t seem quite human is Matt Hallow. He has a complicated past to share with the world that he needs to discover for himself.  Meanwhile, the dangerous beauty that is the angel, Frostbite Isaz, basks in the winter chill of her icy powers.  While she may be hunting down her ultimate prey, Geordie Vollner, she has her own qualms to deal with as well as her loyalties to the angels is tested.  Finally, there’s Sam Williams, the quick witted and seemingly an ordinary turned vampire, simultaneously must deal with having all the social connections a person can ask for whilst being isolated from the world around him.

These are the characters that open our story of a brewing war between species.  Each person is trying to find their place in a world that would help them as easily as it would dispose of them.  Conflicts between the species constantly build walls that get in the way of the interpersonal relationships of their communities.  There are many communities that cover this world, some considered to be lowly mortals, and some considered to be powerful and mighty immortals.

In the hierarchy of species’ food chain, the angels and the vampires are considered the “top dogs” of the group.  They are truly immortal creatures who bear no mind toward the lives of those who are subjects of time.  Although they are not considered truly immortal, their lives are long lasting due to the magic they naturally inherit from the world, the fae are one of the oldest species in the world, predating vampires and angels.  And then there are the lygoids, dark and parasitic creatures, they feast upon the essences and souls of other creatures, preferably the immortal ones.  There are many other creatures that populate the world within Fallen Ribbon; humans, werewolves, witches, and many more.  For the sake of writing and reading time, however, we are only going to focus on the immortal creatures; vampires, angels, fae, and lygoids in the species posts.
